Unravelling Corporate Culture While Working From Home

Working from home since 2020 has meant unravelling the very rigid corporate life I have been trained to work within.

My first full time job was SUPER strict and that stuck with me for years and years –

  • clocking in and out right on time...

  • literally never taking a sick day (I was told point blank "we don't take sick days here" 😵‍💫)...

  • living in fear of doing something wrong so always feeling I had to be ahead of every task.

Over the last few years I’ve worked hard to become less black and white, and more “can I have both?”

e.g.

  • I can overdeliver at work today and fit in a workout

  • I can step away to pick up V from school and make a late night work call that feels important

  • I can choose to not overreact to something going wrong at work and know if I take my lunchtime walk, I’m much more likely to think clearly when I get back

Where are you being black and white with your personal and working life, and where could you see space for ‘and’?
