How to Trust Yourself at Work (and Stop Second-Guessing Yourself)

There’s something that slows you down at work that we just do not talk about, and that is the constant second guessing your brain will put you through all day.

You might sit down feeling really positive and confident, like you've got heaps of time in the day.

And then you start working and you're constantly thinking,

Am I doing this right?

Am I doing the right thing?

Should I be doing something else?

I feel like I need to be doing eight things at once.”

And that is obviously going to slow you down.

Because you're so scattered, you're unable to do focused work. You're in meetings, trying to do other tasks, you're running late for meetings because you get stuck on something and it's just not a good look. It doesn't help you be a consistent, focused high achiever at work.

Trusting yourself at work

Trusting yourself at work is one of the major missing keys for most women.

Self trust looks like planning your day, deciding ahead of time what you're going to do and trusting you're doing the right things.

You will still need to leave some buffer for incidental work and interruptions, but you're able to walk through the day and be so much more efficient.

In fact, you'll probably get through that list in four hours instead of eight hours because you're actually just tick, tick, tick, executing things.

You've learnt to quiet that voice in your head that's usually bullying you, and instead it's like,

OK, we trust her.

She knows what she's doing,‍ ‍

We'll kind of go along for the ride.”

And that will compound and you’ll start to realise:

OK, this makes me more efficient. Now I have an extra four hours in the day. What would I like to do with that?”

And that is the gold.

Because the point isn't to become more efficient so you can cram even more work into those four hours. The point is that you've created some space, and now you get to decide what you actually want to do with it.

If this is the kind of workday you want to have versus what you are having, book in for a Coffee Chat with me. I'll have a look at your calendar and your way of working and I'll tell you the top three things I would change right away.
