SELF CARE
Our brains, by nature, LOVE routine.
That can all go out the window during the holidays, so if you're freaking out, breathe.
You are normal. Here’s what to do next.
Listen to my interview with Tracy Hoth from The Organized Coach podcst, and implement your own power hour in your everyday life.
Do you think you have no time for yourself? And any time you have (say that 1 hour of Gabby’s Dollhouse you give your toddler during the day) is filled with dishes, folding laundry and picking up the house?
Read on for how to get more time and the 3 questions to ask yourself to follow through on down time just for you.
It’s taken me a long time to learn this but ‘pushing through’ is no longer the best way to get my to do list done and is a surefire way to run out of steam.
So what can you do instead?
A lot of people say they are in disbelief about my morning routine.
They roll out of bed and straight into their day, and roll straight back into bed at night after all the chores are done.
They tell me I’m too positive and that I can’t actually enjoy getting up at 6am to take care of myself when I could be sleeping instead.
What I’ve realised recently is that looking after myself is the entire foundation of what keeps my life ticking in the way I want it to.
Do you feel like you should have an endless supply of energy?
No matter the season, or your workload, or your number of kids, do you always want to feel energetic and able to do everything on your to do list?
You’re not alone.
A client came to me last week, lamenting how busy she is at work. She let me know she was “keeping on top of everything”, but based on the sheer volume of tasks and her available time, she was worried about the quality of work she was producing for her clients.
I asked her, “Have you had any negative feedback from clients about the quality of your work?”
She answered, “No.”
Earlier this year, I was having trouble with a particular person in my life - I would call him an ‘energy vampire’...
I wasn’t super close to him but had to have a lot to do with him on a week to week basis. In my eyes, he was very negative about life and I felt like I was a sounding board for much of this negativity.
Although we try to keep things positive here at Where the Light Plays, it is worth admitting life isn't all peaches and cream.
Many types of people will come our way in life, but here's two I personally have trouble dealing with - the energy vampire (aka the drainer) and the one-upper.
You probably think it’s too late for some of your goals too, or you’re past it, but what if you remember… you’re not dead yet?!
