Remember…You’re Not Dead Yet

Happy New Year!

As I've been looking back on 2023, I've realised it brought me two life-changing concepts. (You can also read my 2023 goal recap here on IG).

I learnt the crazy numbers about quiet quitting (59% of global employees in white collar jobs are quiet quitting… 19% are loud quitting, aka actively disgruntled and applying for new jobs).

And I did my own 2023 goal setting about what I wanted the year to look like and came up with a phrase I’ll never forget. I had a vision for how I wanted to feel towards the end of 2023, but I was struggling with my age (I turned 41 this year).

I pictured someone enjoying dance class, feeling healthy, and having fun in my relationship… and thought, “Maybe I’ll call it my Energised Era.”

My intuition gave this one a “hmm, that sounds OK but not amazing…” and as I thought longer about how I wanted to feel, three words came to me:

NOT DEAD YET.

As I planned my year, I kept thinking ‘it’s too late’ or ‘I’m past that’ but I realised I really wasn’t.

Here is my vision board from last year:

(I even put Beyonce on there as she’s a year older than me and definitely not dead yet 🤣)

You probably think it’s too late for some of your goals too, or you’re past it, but what if you remember… you’re not dead yet.

If you’re coasting through your job, your relationship, or life in general…

If you fantasise about a different career, running a marathon, moving country, or reigniting your relationship but feel like it’s too late…

You’re not dead yet.

I don’t want you to go another year, let alone a lifetime, feeling like there is untapped potential that you never, ever realised.

Like you had an idea in your heart, but it felt too scary or daunting to make it happen.

Journalling Exercise

Take a few minutes today and:

  1. Think of an example of someone you’ve seen doing things “later in life”. When I’ve done this exercise, I picture the eager, mature age student in my university lectures when I was 18 and the adults I see in the next lane learning to swim when I take V to her swimming lessons.

  2. Make a deal with yourself that you never have to act on any of this, but… write down the following:

    1. What you truly want to have

    2. What you truly want to do, and

    3. What you truly want to say

  3. DM me on Instagram your #notdeadyet answers to number 2. Or if that feels too scary right now, write #notdeadyet, and I will send you all the details about how it’s not too late for you.

I cannot wait for 2024!
